What is an assessment on Gymkee?
An assessment is a progress check-in that your coach schedules for you. Each assessment can include body measurements (weight, waist, chest, arms, thighs), feedback questions (how you feel, pain level, energy), and progress photos (face, profile, back).
Your coach uses assessment data to track your progress over time and adjust your training or nutrition program accordingly. Assessments are recurring, meaning your coach sets them up once and they repeat on a regular schedule.
How do I find my assessments on Gymkee?
There are two ways to access your assessments.
From the Home screen: When you have an assessment scheduled for the current day, it appears in the Assessments section on your Home screen. It also shows up in your daily to-do checklist at the top of the Home screen. Tap the assessment card to open it directly.
From your Profile:
Open the Profile tab
In the assessments stats card, tap See more
Gymkee opens the Assessments list screen
The assessments list has four filter tabs at the top:
Programmed (default): upcoming assessments you have not yet completed
Completed: assessments you have already submitted
Missed: assessments whose scheduled date passed without you completing them
Past: shows both completed and missed assessments together
Assessments are grouped by month (for example, "March 2026", "February 2026"). Each card displays the scheduled date, a summary of what the assessment includes (number of photos, measurements, and questions), and a color-coded status badge.
How do I complete an assessment on Gymkee?
You can only complete an assessment on or after its scheduled date. If the assessment is scheduled for a future date, you will see its details but the completion button will not appear.
Open a scheduled assessment from your Home screen or your Assessments list
Read the description from your coach (if one was provided)
Tap Complete the assessment at the bottom of the screen
A full-screen form opens with the assessment name at the top
The form is divided into sections, displayed in this order:
Progress photos (if your coach included them):
Up to three photo slots appear: Face, Profile, Back
Each slot is labeled as required or (Optional)
Tap a slot to choose between Choose from the photo library or Take a picture
You can remove a photo and retake it before submitting
Measurements (if your coach included them):
Each measurement appears as a labeled input field
Enter the numeric value for each one
Units adapt automatically to your app settings (kg or lbs for mass, cm or inches for length)
Use the Previous and Next keyboard buttons to move between fields
Questions (if your coach included them):
Text questions: type your answer in the text field
Rating questions: slide the bar to select a value between 0 and 10
Yes/No questions: tap Yes or No
Once all fields are filled, tap Save the assessment
Gymkee uploads your photos (you will see a progress bar for each), then sends your data
Your coach receives a notification and can review your results immediately.
What types of measurements can an assessment include on Gymkee?
Your coach configures which measurements to include. There are three types:
Mass: weight-based measurements such as body weight or fat mass. Displayed in kg or lbs depending on your unit settings.
Length: size-based measurements such as chest circumference, waist, arm circumference, or thigh. Displayed in cm or inches depending on your unit settings.
Custom: any numeric value your coach defines, such as an energy score, flexibility rating, or a sport-specific metric.
When you view a completed assessment, Gymkee shows the difference compared to your previous assessment (for example, "+2.5 kg compared to 15/02"). Tap the comparison to navigate directly to that previous assessment.
What types of questions can an assessment include on Gymkee?
Your coach decides which questions to include. There are three types:
Text: an open-ended written response. Use this to describe how you feel, share feedback, or provide details your coach asked for.
Rating: a numeric slider from 0 to 10. Common uses include pain level, energy, motivation, or sleep quality.
Yes/No: a simple toggle. For example, "Are you following the nutrition plan?" or "Did you experience any pain this week?"
How do I take progress photos on Gymkee?
When your coach includes photos in the assessment, up to three photo positions appear:
Face: face the camera straight on, full body visible
Profile: turn 90 degrees to show your side
Back: turn around to show your back
For each position, tap the camera icon and choose:
Choose from the photo library to select an existing photo
Take a picture to open the camera and shoot a new one
Photos are only visible to you and your coach. You can remove and retake any photo before submitting.
Tips for better progress photos:
Wear form-fitting sportswear so your coach can see your progress clearly
Wear the same clothes each time for consistent comparisons
Use a neutral background that stays the same across assessments
Stand straight with arms along your body
Use natural light when possible
Take a full-body photo (avoid mirror selfies)
Ask someone to take your photo, or use a timer
Note for athletes under 18: Gymkee does not allow minors to upload photos. If your account indicates you are under 18, the photo upload option will not be available.
What happens after I submit an assessment on Gymkee?
Your coach receives a notification as soon as you submit. They can see your answers, measurements, and photos in their dashboard.
You can review your completed assessment anytime:
Go to Profile > Assessments
Switch to the Completed filter tab
Tap any completed assessment to see your submitted answers, measurements, and photos
For completed assessments, Gymkee also displays the delta compared to your previous assessment next to each measurement. This helps you and your coach see your progress at a glance.
Your assessment data feeds into the Progression charts in your Profile > Stats section, where you can view measurement trends over time (week, 2 weeks, month, 3 months, year, or all time).
Tips
Complete your assessments on the scheduled date to keep your progress tracking consistent
Take photos in the same location, with the same lighting and clothing, for the most accurate visual comparisons
Fill in all measurement fields honestly, even if the numbers are not what you hoped for. Your coach needs accurate data to help you.
Check the Progression charts in your profile regularly to see your trends over time
Common Mistakes
Waiting too long to complete an assessment. If the scheduled date passes, the assessment moves to the Missed tab. Complete assessments on the day they are scheduled.
Submitting without filling in all required fields. Gymkee will highlight missing fields in red and scroll you to the first error. Fill in every required field before tapping Save the assessment.
Skipping optional photos. If a photo is marked as optional, you can skip it. But if a required photo is missing, Gymkee will warn you and ask for confirmation before allowing you to submit without it.
Taking photos in different conditions each time. Inconsistent lighting, clothing, or angles make visual comparisons unreliable for your coach.
Troubleshooting
Problem: I cannot see the "Complete the assessment" button
Why it happens: The assessment is scheduled for a future date. You can only complete an assessment on or after its scheduled date.
How to fix it: Wait until the scheduled date arrives. Open the assessment again on that day, and the button will appear.
Problem: Gymkee says required photos are missing
Why it happens: Your coach marked certain photo positions (Face, Profile, or Back) as required, and you have not uploaded them.
How to fix it: Tap the empty photo slot, choose a photo from your library or take a new one. If you want to submit without the required photos, Gymkee will show a confirmation dialog asking if you are sure.
Problem: I cannot upload photos
Why it happens: Either Gymkee does not have permission to access your camera or photo library, or your account indicates you are under 18.
How to fix it: Go to your phone's Settings, find Gymkee, and enable Camera and Photos permissions. If you are under 18, photo uploads are blocked for privacy and safety reasons.
Problem: My measurements show the wrong units
Why it happens: Your unit settings in Gymkee do not match your preference.
How to fix it: Go to Profile > Settings > Units and switch between metric (kg/cm) and imperial (lbs/inches). Gymkee automatically converts your measurement values when you change units.
Problem: My assessment moved to "Missed"
Why it happens: The scheduled date passed and you did not complete the assessment.
How to fix it: Unfortunately, missed assessments cannot be completed after the fact. Make sure to complete future assessments on or before their scheduled date. You can check upcoming assessments in the Programmed tab.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I complete an assessment late? A: No. Once the scheduled date passes without completion, the assessment moves to the Missed tab and can no longer be filled in. Complete your assessments on the day they are scheduled.
Q: Can I edit an assessment after submitting it? A: No. Once you tap Save the assessment, your answers, measurements, and photos are sent to your coach and cannot be modified. Double-check your entries before submitting.
Q: Are my progress photos private? A: Yes. Your photos are only visible to you and your coach. No other users or athletes can see them.
Q: How often will my coach send assessments? A: That depends on your coach. Assessments use a recurrence rule, so your coach sets the frequency (weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc.) when creating the assessment template. Ask your coach if you are unsure about the schedule.
Q: Can I create my own assessment? A: No. Only your coach can create and schedule assessments for you. If you want to track something specific, ask your coach to add it to your next assessment.
Q: What if I miss an assessment? A: The assessment moves to the Missed tab in your assessments list. Your coach can see that you missed it. Missing assessments does not affect your account, but it gives your coach less data to work with. Try to complete every assessment on time.
Q: Can I see my progress over time? A: Yes. Go to Profile > Stats to see graphs of your measurements and rating-based questions over time. You can filter by time range (1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 1 year, or all time). Each data point on the graph links back to the assessment it came from.
