Overview

Habits on Gymkee help you build consistent, healthy routines alongside your training and nutrition programs. Your coach can assign habits for you to complete daily or on specific schedules. Depending on your access level, you can also add your own.

Each habit appears on your Home screen. You complete them by tapping them, and Gymkee tracks your streaks, completion rates, and personal records over time. Some habits even track automatically using your phone's health data (steps, active calories, sleep).

Who It's For

Athletes and clients who use the Gymkee mobile app to follow their coach's programs.

What Problem It Solves

Sticking to healthy routines is hard without accountability. Habits on Gymkee give you a visual, streak-based system that keeps you motivated, lets your coach monitor your consistency, and rewards your discipline with milestones and shareable achievements.

Core Workflows

Finding Your Habits

  1. Open Gymkee and go to the Home tab

  2. Scroll to the Habits section

  3. You will see a list of habits that are due today, with a completion counter (e.g., "3/5") showing how many you have completed out of how many are due

Each habit card shows:

  • The habit emoji and name

  • A progress bar (for number-based habits) or completion state

  • Your current streak displayed as a flame icon with a number

Completing a Yes/No Habit

Yes/no habits are the simplest kind: either you did it or you didn't.

  1. Tap the habit card on the Home screen to open the habit detail

  2. Tap the Complete button at the bottom of the screen

  3. A confetti animation confirms your completion

  4. Your streak counter increments

To undo a completion, tap the Undo button that replaces the complete button.

Completing a Number-Based Habit

Number-based habits track a value toward a target (e.g., 8 glasses of water, 10,000 steps).

  1. Tap the habit card to open the habit detail

  2. Tap Enter value at the bottom of the screen

  3. Enter your value in the input sheet that appears

  4. Once your value reaches or exceeds the target, the habit is marked complete

For hydration habits: Gymkee shows quick-add preset buttons (glass, shaker, bottle) so you can tap to add increments without typing a number each time.

Viewing Habit Details

Tap any habit card to open its detail screen, which includes:

  • Progress ring showing your daily progress (or an animated water circle for hydration habits)

  • Description from your coach explaining the habit

  • Streak badge with your current streak count and tier color

  • Motivational message that changes based on your streak status

  • Weekly calendar showing a row of 7 days with checkmarks for completed days

  • 21-Day Habit Path, a visual path with milestone markers at days 3, 7, 14, and 21

  • Stats section with current streak, longest streak, and weekly completion rate

  • Target progress bar (for number-based habits) showing current value vs. target

  • Personal Records Vault tracking your best achievements

Adding New Habits

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Add habit card at the bottom of the Habits section

  2. A bottom sheet opens showing available habit templates organized by category

  3. Use the search bar or category chips to filter templates

  4. Tap one or more templates to select them (a checkbox appears)

  5. Tap the Add habits button to activate them

Templates that are already assigned to you show a badge and cannot be selected again.

If your coach has granted you creation access, you will also see a Create custom link that lets you build a habit from scratch.

Viewing the Full Calendar

  1. Open a habit's detail screen

  2. Tap the weekly calendar row

  3. A full-screen calendar modal opens with time range options: Month, 90d, 6m, 1y

  4. The calendar shows completion %, days completed, and days missed at the top

  5. Each day cell is color-coded: filled for completed, red-tinted for missed, neutral for not-due or future days

Sharing Your Streak

  1. Open a habit's detail screen

  2. Scroll down to the Share section

  3. Choose a time range (1W, 2W, 1M, 6M, 1Y) to customize the share card

  4. Tap the Share button

  5. Gymkee generates a visual card with your habit grid, streak count, and your coach's name, then opens the system share sheet

Quick Start

  1. Open Gymkee and go to the Home tab

  2. Look at the Habits section. Your coach has likely already assigned habits for you

  3. Tap a habit card to see its details

  4. Tap Complete (for yes/no habits) or Enter value (for number-based habits) to log your progress

  5. Come back tomorrow and keep your streak going!

Grace Periods

Each habit has a grace period setting (configured by your coach or by default) that allows you to miss a certain number of days per week without breaking your streak:

  • 0 skips/week. Strict. Every missed due day breaks your streak.

  • 1 skip/week. You can miss 1 due day per week and keep your streak.

  • 2 skips/week. You can miss up to 2 due days per week and keep your streak.

Auto-Tracking

Some habits track automatically using health data from your phone:

  • Steps. Logs your daily step count from Apple Health or Google Fit

  • Active calories. Logs your active calorie burn

  • Sleep. Logs your sleep duration

  • Workouts. Marks complete when you log a workout on Gymkee

  • Meal log. Marks complete when you log a meal on Gymkee

  • Body weight. Marks complete when you log your weight

  • Progress photo. Marks complete when you take a progress photo

Auto-tracked values appear automatically. You can always override them by entering a manual value.

Best Practices

  • Check your habits at the same time each day. Morning routines and evening check-ins work well.

  • Use the 21-Day Habit Path as a visual motivator. Reaching day 21 is when habits start to become automatic.

  • Do not break your streak on purpose. Even on rest days, log what you can. Grace periods exist for genuine misses, not planned skips.

  • Use the calendar view to spot patterns in your consistency. Are you stronger on weekdays or weekends?

  • Share your milestones. Posting a 30-day streak to social media reinforces your commitment.

Common Mistakes

  • Forgetting to log before midnight. Habits are tracked by calendar day. If you complete a habit but forget to log it, it will show as missed. Open Gymkee before bed to check.

  • Confusing "X times per week" with "specific days". With "X times per week," you choose when to complete it. You do not need to complete it on any specific day.

  • Expecting auto-tracked habits to update instantly. Health data syncs periodically. If your step count has not updated, close and reopen Gymkee to trigger a sync.

  • Trying to add a habit that is already assigned. Templates that are already active show an "Already added" badge and cannot be selected again.

Troubleshooting

Problem: The "Add habit" button shows a lock icon

Why it happens: Your coach has not granted you the ability to add habits on your own.

How to fix it: Contact your coach and ask them to enable habit access in your subscription settings. Habits assigned by your coach are always visible regardless of this setting.

Problem: My streak broke even though I only missed one day

Why it happens: The habit's grace period may be set to 0 skips per week, meaning every miss breaks the streak.

How to fix it: There is nothing you can do retroactively. Start building the streak again. Ask your coach if a grace period can be configured for that habit.

Problem: My auto-tracked step count is wrong or not updating

Why it happens: Health data syncs periodically and depends on your phone's health app permissions.

How to fix it: Make sure Gymkee has permission to read health data in your phone settings. Close and reopen Gymkee to trigger a fresh sync. If the value is still wrong, tap Enter value to manually override it.

Problem: I cannot remove a habit

Why it happens: Only habits you created yourself can be removed. Habits assigned by your coach cannot be removed by you.

How to fix it: Ask your coach to remove or pause the habit from their dashboard.

Problem: I completed a habit but it does not show in the calendar

Why it happens: The calendar loads data from the server and caches it for performance.

How to fix it: Close the calendar modal and reopen it. The new completion should appear.

FAQ

Q: Can I complete habits for past days? A: Auto-tracked habits log retroactively based on health data. For manual habits, completion is logged for the current day only.

Q: What happens if my coach pauses a habit? A: Paused habits do not appear in your daily list and do not affect your streak. When the coach unpauses it, it resumes from where you left off.

Q: Do I need to complete every habit every day? A: Only habits that are due today appear in your daily list. If a habit is set to "3 times per week," it is flexible. You pick which days.

Q: Can my coach see my habit completions? A: Yes. Your coach has a dashboard showing your completion rates, streaks, and completion history for every assigned habit.

Q: What is the 21-Day Habit Path? A: A visual path on the habit detail screen showing your progress over 21 days with milestone markers at days 3, 7, 14, and 21. Reaching 21 consecutive days is a significant achievement. Research suggests it takes about 21 days to form a habit.

Q: How do hydration habits work differently? A: Hydration habits show an animated water circle instead of a standard progress ring, and they provide quick-add preset buttons (glass, shaker, bottle) so you can tap to add water intake without typing a number.
