What Are Prescribed Activities?
Prescribed activities are specific physical activities that your coach assigns to you with defined targets. Unlike regular activity logs (where you freely record what you did), prescribed activities tell you what your coach wants you to do.
For example, your coach might prescribe:
"30-minute moderate run" on Tuesday
"45-minute bike ride, moderate intensity" on Thursday
"60-minute swim at a steady pace" on Saturday
These show up in your program schedule alongside your structured workouts. Your job is to complete them and log the activity on Gymkee.
Where Prescribed Activities Appear
Prescribed activities appear in your program schedule in Gymkee, alongside your structured workouts. They look different from workouts because they show activity-specific information (type, duration target, intensity target) rather than exercises and sets.
You can see prescribed activities for:
Today: What is due right now
Upcoming days: What is coming up this week
Past days: What you completed or missed
Understanding Targets
Each prescribed activity includes one or more targets set by your coach. Here are the types of targets you might see:

Pace | What speed to maintain | 5:30 min/km |

Not every prescription has all of these. Your coach sets the targets that matter for the specific activity. A yoga prescription might only have a duration target, while a running prescription might include duration, distance, and pace.
Reading Coach Instructions
Your coach can attach written instructions to a prescribed activity. These appear below the targets and give you more context about what the coach has in mind.
Examples of coach instructions:
"Focus on maintaining a steady pace throughout. Do not sprint the last km."
"Warm up for 10 minutes before starting the main effort."
"This is a recovery ride. Keep your heart rate below 130 bpm."
"Try to do this outdoors if the weather allows."
Read these carefully before starting your activity. They tell you not only what to do but how to do it.
Completing a Prescribed Activity
There are two ways to complete a prescribed activity:
Option 1: Log a matching activity manually
Open your program schedule and note the prescribed activity's targets
Go do the activity
Come back to Gymkee and tap Log Activity
Select the same activity type as the prescription (e.g., Running)
Enter a duration, intensity, and metrics that meet or exceed the targets
Save the activity
Gymkee detects a match and marks the prescription as Done
Option 2: Sync from your wearable
Open your program schedule and note the prescribed activity's targets
Wear your device and complete the activity
Open Gymkee to trigger syncing
The synced activity matches the prescription automatically
Gymkee marks the prescription as Done
In both cases, the key is that the logged activity matches the prescription's type and meets the targets.
How Auto-Matching Works
When you log or sync an activity, Gymkee checks if it matches any pending prescribed activities. Here is what the matching logic looks for:
Activity type: The logged activity must be of the same type as the prescription (e.g., if the prescription is for Running, a Swimming log will not match)
Date: The activity must fall on or near the prescribed date
Targets: The logged activity should meet the prescribed targets (duration, distance, etc.)
If a match is found, the prescription status changes to Done automatically. You do not need to manually link the activity to the prescription.
What if the match is not exact?
If you ran 28 minutes instead of the prescribed 30, Gymkee may still consider it a close enough match
If the type is completely different (swimming instead of running), it will not match
If you are far below the targets (10 minutes instead of 30), it will not match
Understanding Prescription Statuses
Each prescribed activity has one of three statuses:
Status | What It Means | Visual |
Scheduled | The activity is coming up. The prescribed date has not arrived yet, or it is today and you have not completed it. | Upcoming indicator |
Done | You completed the activity. A matching activity was logged or synced. | Completion checkmark |
Missed | The prescribed date has passed without a matching activity. | Missed indicator |
Scheduled activities are waiting for you to complete them. They appear in your upcoming schedule.
Done activities show a link to the matching activity log, so you and your coach can see the details.
Missed activities remain visible so your coach can see what was skipped. They cannot be undone by the system, but you can still log a late activity with a past date to resolve the miss (within the 1-year limit).
Recovering a Missed Prescription
If a prescribed activity shows as "Missed" but you actually did it:
Tap Log Activity
Select the matching activity type
Change the date to the day the activity actually happened
Enter your duration, intensity, and metrics
Save the activity
If the date and type match the prescription, the status should update from Missed to Done.
If the activity happened too long ago (more than 1 year), you cannot log it retroactively.
Tips
Check your program schedule at the start of each day. See if any prescribed activities are coming up so you can plan your day around them.
Read coach instructions before starting. Your coach may have specific guidance on pacing, warm-up, cool-down, or intensity management.
Use a wearable for the most seamless experience. When you sync from a device, the activity data is more complete (heart rate, GPS distance, etc.) and the matching happens automatically.
Log the activity on the same day it was prescribed. This gives the best chance of auto-matching. Logging a prescribed Tuesday run on Wednesday may not match correctly.
When in doubt, aim to meet or slightly exceed the targets. Running 32 minutes when 30 is prescribed is fine. Running 15 minutes is likely too short to match.
Common Mistakes
Logging a different activity type than what was prescribed. If your coach prescribed a run and you went for a swim instead, the prescription will not be marked as Done. The activity types must match.
Completing the activity but forgetting to log it. Gymkee needs a record of the activity to match it to the prescription. If you do not log it (and it does not sync from a wearable), the prescription will show as Missed.
Ignoring the prescribed intensity. If your coach prescribes a moderate run and you do a high-intensity sprint, the spirit of the prescription is not met. While Gymkee may still auto-match based on type and duration, your coach will notice the mismatch and may follow up.
Waiting too long to log. If the prescribed date passes and you have not logged, the status changes to Missed. Log on the same day whenever possible.
Not reading coach instructions. Your coach may have set specific pacing, heart rate, or recovery guidelines. Skipping these defeats the purpose of having a prescribed activity.
Troubleshooting
Problem: I logged an activity but the prescription still shows as Scheduled
Why it happens: The logged activity may not match the prescription. The activity type might be different, or the metrics may fall too far below the targets.
How to fix it: Check that the activity type matches exactly (e.g., both are "Running," not one is "Running" and the other is "Walking"). Also verify the date is the same. If everything looks correct, try closing and reopening Gymkee to trigger a refresh.
Problem: My prescribed activity shows as Missed even though I did it
Why it happens: Either the activity was not logged on Gymkee (no manual log or wearable sync), or it was logged on a different date than the prescription.
How to fix it: Log the activity now with the correct past date. Select the matching activity type, set the date to when you actually did it, and enter your metrics. The prescription status should update if the date and type match.
Problem: I cannot see any prescribed activities
Why it happens: Your coach may not have prescribed any activities for you. Or, you may be looking in the wrong section of Gymkee.
How to fix it: Check your program schedule (not the general Activities section). Prescribed activities appear alongside your workouts in the schedule view. If you do not see any, your coach has not prescribed activities for your current program.
Problem: The prescription matched the wrong activity
Why it happens: If you logged multiple activities of the same type on the same day, Gymkee may have matched the prescription to the wrong one.
How to fix it: Contact your coach and let them know. They can see both activities and understand which one was intended for the prescription. In future, try to log the prescribed activity first or as close to the prescribed time as possible.
Problem: I want to redo a prescribed activity that I already completed
Why it happens: Once a prescription is marked as Done, it stays that way. Gymkee does not allow you to "uncomplete" a prescription.
How to fix it: You can still log another activity of the same type. The extra activity will appear in your activity history and your coach can see it. But the original prescription will remain marked as Done.
