How do I view my nutrition program on Gymkee?

Your coach assigns you a nutrition program with daily meal plans. Open the Nutrition tab at the bottom of Gymkee to see all your programs.

The Nutrition tab has three sections:

  1. Programs tab: lists all your nutrition programs, grouped into Ongoing, Incoming, and Past

  2. Recipes tab: browse recipes by category (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack) or search by name

  3. Meals tab: view your recent meal days grouped by week, with calorie and macro progress for each day

Tap a program to open it. Inside a program, you see two tabs:

  • About: program duration (in weeks), number of meal days, average meal days per week, periodization tags, intro video from your coach (if provided), a written description, and your coach's profile

  • Meal Days: a week-by-week calendar listing every planned meal day. Tap any meal day to open the daily nutrition view.

The grocery list icon (shopping bag) appears in the top-right corner of the program screen.

How do I track my daily nutrition on Gymkee?

Tap a meal day from either the Meal Days tab inside your program or from the Meals tab on the Nutrition screen.

The daily nutrition view shows:

  • Nutrition card: a circular progress chart displaying your calorie goal, calories consumed, and calories remaining. Below the circle, three progress bars show your macros: Carbs, Proteins, and Fats (lipids). The circle changes color if you exceed your target (slightly over or significantly over).

  • Coach note: if your coach added a note for this day, it appears as a card with the coach's avatar and a preview of the message. Tap to read the full note.

  • Meal cards: each planned meal is listed as a card showing the meal name, a thumbnail icon, planned calories, logged calories, a food description, and a circular progress indicator. Tap any meal card to open that meal.

If your coach did not set calorie or macro goals for the day, the card shows only what you have consumed, without targets.

How do I log a meal on Gymkee?

Tap a meal card to open the meal detail screen. This screen has several sections:

  1. Coach note (if provided): displayed at the top with the coach's avatar

  2. Alternatives banner (if available): shows how many alternative meal options your coach prepared

  3. Nutrition goal: the same circular progress chart and macro bars, scoped to this specific meal

  4. Coach recommendations: the list of foods your coach suggests for this meal. Tap any food to view its details and log it.

  5. What you ate: shows foods you have already logged. If you have not logged anything yet, a button lets you log all recommended foods at once (with a confetti animation on success). Swipe left on any logged food to delete it.

  6. Nutrition facts: a detailed breakdown of the nutritional values for this meal

To add more food to your meal:

  1. Tap the Log More button at the bottom of the meal screen

  2. The Food Picker screen opens with three content categories across the top: Foods, Meals, and Recipes

  3. Browse or search for items, then tap the + button to add them to your cart, or tap the item to view details first

  4. When finished, tap Done to log everything to your meal

How do I search for food on Gymkee?

From the Food Picker screen, tap the search bar at the top. This opens the Food Search screen.

  • Type any food name for real-time results powered by Gymkee's food database (Algolia search)

  • Results include both individual foods and recipes, showing the name, portion size, and calories

  • If fewer than 10 results appear, a Search more button lets you expand the search to the OpenFoodFacts database for additional products

  • Recent searches are saved and displayed when the search field is empty

Each content category has its own filters:

  • Foods: Frequent, Recent, Favorites

  • Recipes: Frequent, Recent, Created (your own recipes)

  • Meals: Frequent, Recent, Saved

How do I scan a barcode on Gymkee?

Tap the barcode icon (QR code icon) next to the search bar on the Food Picker or Food Search screen.

  1. Gymkee opens a barcode scanner using your camera

  2. Point your camera at the barcode on a food product

  3. Gymkee looks up the product in the OpenFoodFacts database

  4. If found, the food detail screen opens with the product name, default portion size, and full nutritional information

  5. Adjust the portion if needed, then confirm to add it to your meal

How does AI meal recognition work on Gymkee?

Tap the AI scanner icon (next to the barcode icon) on the Food Picker screen.

  1. Gymkee opens the camera with a square framing guide

  2. Take a photo of your meal, or select one from your gallery

  3. Optionally, add context about your meal (for example, the brand name of a packaged product). You can also skip this step.

  4. Gymkee analyzes the photo using AI and identifies the foods on your plate

  5. Review the detected foods. Each item shows its name, portion, and estimated macros.

  6. Tap Add to add all detected foods to your meal, or Rescan to try again

If you provide a branded product name as context, Gymkee also searches the OpenFoodFacts database for more accurate nutritional data.

The AI works best with:

  • Well-lit photos

  • Individual plates (not buffet-style)

  • Common foods with recognizable shapes

  • JPEG or PNG format (HEIC may not be supported)

What are food alternatives on Gymkee?

Some meals have alternatives set by your coach. These are different meal options with similar nutritional value, giving you flexibility while staying on track.

When alternatives are available, a banner appears at the top of the meal screen with a refresh icon and the number of alternatives (for example, "2 alternatives available").

  1. Tap the alternatives banner

  2. A bottom sheet opens showing all available meal options with their names, calorie counts, and food descriptions

  3. Tap the option you prefer

  4. The meal screen updates to show the selected alternative's recommended foods and nutritional targets

Your original meal always remains available as an option. Selecting an alternative does not affect your other meals.

  1. Browse recipes organized by category: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack

  2. Tap See all on any category to view the full list

  4. Use the filters icon to filter by meal type, dietary preference, equipment needed, or cooking time (under 15 min, under 30 min, 30-45 min, 45-60 min, over 1 hour)

  5. Tap a recipe to see its full details: ingredients, cooking instructions, macros, and cooking time

From the Food Picker (when logging a meal):

  1. Switch to the Recipes tab at the top of the Food Picker

  2. Browse by Frequent, Recent, or Created (your own recipes)

  3. Tap a recipe to view it, then adjust the portion and confirm to add it to your meal

How do I use the grocery list on Gymkee?

The grocery list is accessible from inside any nutrition program.

  2. Tap the shopping bag icon in the top-right corner of the header

  3. The Grocery List screen opens with a date range picker at the top

  5. Gymkee generates a list of all ingredients needed for your meals in that date range

  6. Tap each item to check it off as you shop

  7. A progress bar at the bottom shows your completion percentage

  8. Use Check All to mark everything at once, or Clear All to reset

When all items are checked, tap Done. A confirmation popup asks if you are finished, followed by a confetti celebration.

To edit a saved meal:

  2. Tap the pencil icon in the header

  3. Choose Edit to modify the name or foods, or Delete to remove it from your saved meals

Tips

  • Check your nutrition section on the Home screen daily. It gives you a quick snapshot of your calorie and macro progress without opening the full Nutrition tab.

  • Use the "log all recommended" shortcut in a meal to quickly log everything your coach planned, then adjust portions afterward if needed.

  • The AI meal scanner works best when you take the photo from directly above, with good lighting. Add context (like the product brand) for packaged foods to get more accurate results.

  • Save meals you eat often to the Saved list. This saves time compared to searching for each food individually.

  • Use the grocery list before your weekly shopping trip. Set the date range to cover the whole week for a complete ingredients list.

Common Mistakes

  • Logging food to the wrong meal: Double-check which meal you are in before tapping Log More. Each meal card shows its name at the top of the screen.

  • Forgetting to tap Done after adding foods: If you close the Food Picker without tapping Done, your selected foods will not be saved.

  • Ignoring meal alternatives: If your coach set up alternatives, explore them before defaulting to the first option. You might find a meal that better fits your preferences.

  • Not adjusting portions after barcode scanning: The default portion from a barcode scan may not match what you actually consumed. Always verify the portion size before confirming.

  • Exceeding daily calorie goals without noticing: Watch for the color change on the circular progress chart. It turns orange when slightly over target and red when significantly over.

Troubleshooting

Problem: I do not see any nutrition programs

Why it happens: Your coach has not assigned a nutrition program to you yet, or your subscription does not include nutrition access.

How to fix it: Contact your coach and ask them to create and assign a nutrition program. If you have a subscription, confirm that it includes nutrition features.

Problem: The barcode scanner does not find my product

Why it happens: The product may not exist in the OpenFoodFacts database, or the barcode may be damaged or unreadable.

How to fix it: Try searching for the product by name instead. You can also use the AI meal scanner to photograph the nutrition label.

Problem: The AI meal scanner does not recognize my food

Why it happens: The image may be too dark, blurry, or the food may be uncommon. HEIC image format may also cause issues.

How to fix it: Retake the photo with better lighting and in JPEG format. Add context describing the food. If AI recognition fails, search for the food manually.

Problem: My logged calories do not match my coach's plan

Why it happens: Portions may differ from what your coach planned, or you may have logged additional foods.

How to fix it: Compare the Coach recommendations section with the What you ate section in each meal. Adjust portions to match the plan, or discuss the discrepancy with your coach.

Problem: I accidentally deleted a logged food

Why it happens: Swiping left on a logged food item triggers deletion.

How to fix it: Tap Log More and add the food again. There is no undo for food deletion.
